I. Export of Agricultural Products, 

2.8. Cashew nuts

 According to statistics of the General Department of Customs, in 2022, Vietnam exported 520 thousand tons of cashew nuts, worth about 3.09 billion USD. Compared to 2021, cashew exports decreased by 10.3% in volume and 15.1% in value.  

Vietnam's cashew exports in 2022 are influenced by many factors: (i) Geopolitical conflicts reduce demand for cashew nuts; (ii) Rising inflation makes consumers tend to increase their savings, reduce spending on non-essential foods including cashews; (iii) The major cashew nut import market, China, continues to maintain its Zero-Covid policy for the whole of 2022. Although Vietnam's cashew exports in 2022 down compared to 2021, but Vietnam continues to maintain the number one position in the world for 16 consecutive years in cashew kernel exports when accounting for 80% of the total global output. 

 About export markets: The main import markets of cashew nuts of Vietnam are the United States, China, the Netherlands ,...  In particular, the United States continues to be Vietnam's largest cashew nut import market, reaching 143.6 thousand tons, accounting for 27.6% of total exports, down 18.5% compared to 2021. Next is China with 75.5 thousand tons, accounting for 14.5% of total exports, down 11.3% compared to 2021. Ranked third is the Netherlands with an export volume of 53.4 thousand tons, accounting for 10.3% of total exports, down 22.5% compared to 2021.

About export categories: In 2022, Vietnam's cashew industry mainly exports cashew nuts W320, W240, WS/WB, W180, LP, W450... Compared to 2021, exports of W320, W240, W450 types decreased, exports of WS/WB, W180, LP types increased. Specifically, W30 cashew exports accounted for 40.97% of the country's total cashew exports, reaching 212.9 thousand tons, down 10.3% compared to 2021. W240 cashew nut exports ranked 2nd at 75.7 thousand tons, accounting for 14.6% of total exports; down 11.8% from 2021. In contrast, exports of W180 cashew nuts increased quite strongly, reaching 27,111 tons, accounting for 5.2% of total exports, up 47.2% in volume compared to 2021; followed by SP cashew nuts reached 6,286 tonnes, accounting for 1.2% of total exports, up 9.1% compared to 2021.
