2.9. Pepper

According to statistics of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam's pepper exports in 2022 reached 229 thousand tons, worth 971 million USD, down 12.4% in volume but up 3.5% in value compared to 2021. The average export price of pepper of Vietnam in 2022 will reach 4,244 USD / ton, up 18.1% compared to 2021.

The United States was Vietnam's largest pepper export market reaching 57.8 thousand tons, valued at 282.2 million USD, up 23.2% over the previous year. Pepper exports to the UAE market reached 15.2 thousand tons, worth $ 61.9 million, up 10.4%; to India reached 12.2 thousand tons, worth 53.4 million USD, up 21.9%, to Germany reached 9.9 thousand tons, worth 50.3 million USD, down 3.4%;...

Some major markets with reduced export turnover include: Pakistan decreased by 45.4%; France fell 23.6%; Egypt fell 45.4%; Turkey fell 26.1%; Saudi Arabia fell 83.1%. However, there are also some markets with increased export turnover such as: Japan increased by 60%; Canada increased by 24.5%; Especially the Russian market, although affected by the conflict, Vietnam's pepper exports to this market still increased by 22.2%, reaching 6.3 thousand tons, worth 23.7 million USD.

2022 is the second consecutive year that Olam is the leading pepper exporter in Vietnam reaching about 29 thousand tons, compared to the previous year, the export volume increased by 8.4%. This was followed by Pearl at 25.7 thousand tons, an increase of 8.0%; Nedspice reached 16.8 thousand tons, down 16.6%; Phuc Sinh reached 14.8 thousand tons, down 11.1%; Haprosimex JSC reached 12.7 thousand tons, up 4.4%.
